Our nearest beaches include Happisburgh, Sea Palling, Bacton, and Mundesley, all within an easy 15-20 minute drive. It is not much further to reach popular seaside towns like Cromer, Sheringham, and Wells-next-the-Sea to the North, or Winterton-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, and Gorleston to the South.


DISCOVER THE NORFOLK BROADS NATIONAL PARK 

Heading inland, Wroxham, known as the “Capital of the Broads,” is just a 15-minute drive away. You will have many other options nearby too for hiring day boats, canoes, or paddleboards to enjoy the waterways including from Wayford Bridge, Stalham, Coltishall and Potter Heigham.


WALKING ROUTES & DOG-FRIENDLY WOODLANDS

Keen walkers can join both the North Walsham and Dilham canal path and the Weaver’s Way trail directly from the barns. For off-lead shady woodland walks, take the short 10-minute drive over to Bacton Wood. For a walk with a view you can also explore some of the cliff-top sections of the stunning North Norfolk Coastal Path.

Onsite at Brick Kiln Barns, you can give your dogs some extra exercise in our communal field area. Please note, this area is not fenced to preserve the natural setting, which guests love for spotting wild muntjac deer wandering through.


LOCAL FOOD & SHOPPING IN NORFOLK 

For your convenience, all major supermarkets offer online shopping and delivery directly to the barns. Within six miles, you'll find a Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Waitrose supermarket for your essential holiday groceries.

For a taste of local Norfolk produce visit Roys supermarket in Wroxham, also six miles away or A G Meales farm shop just three miles away. 

After a long day of exploring, cooking is not compulsory! You will find a great choice of local takeaways that deliver to the barns, making your self-catering holiday even more relaxing.

No matter the season, a visit to Norfolk's coastline is a must for guests staying at Brick Kiln Barns. In just a 20-minute drive, you can reach several of the county's best beaches, from Horsey Gap up to the delightful Victorian village of Mundesley. The diverse beaches in this area offer something for everyone, from charming village atmospheres to endless stretches of sand perfect for dog-friendly activities and beautiful coastal scenery.


SEE THE SEALS AT HORSEY GAP

Horsey Gap is famous for its breeding colony of grey seals. From late autumn through to early spring, this beach offers a unique, must-see wildlife experience for visitors.

Happisburgh offers a picturesque "there and back" beach and cliff-top walk, and is restriction-free for dogs year-round. Don't miss the chance to see the iconic red-and-white striped lighthouse and visit the very dog-friendly Small Sticks Cafe at Cart Gap.

Miles of Sandy Shoreline

The coastal stretch encompassing Bacton and Walcott to Cart Gap, provides miles of uninterrupted sand shoreline. These beaches are ideal for a leisurely walk and a paddle in the summer, or something more bracing during the quieter winter months.

GETTING OUT ON THE WATER IN THE NORFOLK BROADS

Exploring the Norfolk Broads National Park is a must during your stay, and you have plenty of options, starting in Wroxham, just 15 minutes from the barns.

Choose from a relaxing skippered boat trip, independent day boat hire, kayaks, canoes, a swan pedalo, or a unique trip on a traditional Norfolk Wherry.


Even closer to your accommodation, you'll find day boat hire options just three miles from the barns and canoe hire available right in Dilham village. 

For those with their own equipment, you can easily launch your kayak, canoe, or paddleboard at Dilham Staith, located at the end of our driveway.

EXPLORE WROXHAM: THE CAPITAL OF THE NORFOLK BROADS
Just six miles from Brick Kiln Barns, Wroxham is considered the capital of the Norfolk Broads and a hub for shopping and boating activities.
Wroxham is home to the famous Roys of Wroxham retail empire, which includes a comprehensive supermarket, department store, toy store, and more. You will also find a selection of other shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants.


For dining in, many local takeaways offer delivery services directly to our barns in Dilham.

EXPLORE STALHAM: LOCAL AMENTITIES & BROADS ACCESS

Approximately four miles from the barns, the market town of Stalham provides essential amenities for your stay. You will find a Tesco supermarket, which includes a petrol station and fast electric car charging points.

The town also features a selection of local shops, including a traditional butcher, along with cafes, pubs, and takeaways.

For those keen to explore the waterways, day boat hire is readily available from Stalham Staithe, providing another excellent access point to the beautiful Norfolk Broads National Park.

NORTH WALSHAM: YOUR LOCAL MARKET TOWN

The bustling market town of North Walsham is conveniently located just 5.5 miles away, providing you with a wide range of amenities during your stay. 

For your grocery needs, North Walsham offers a choice of supermarkets, including Sainsbury's and Lidl. The town also features traditional butchers and bakers for high-quality, local produce.

Beyond supermarkets, you can explore a selection of charming shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants in North Walsham.

For that emergency pint of milk or to pick up a morning paper there is a Premier shop 2 miles away in Smallburgh.

The A J Meale & Sons Farm Shop is less than 3 miles away at Wayford Bridge which stocks a good selection of fresh foods and a tempting selection of sweet treats - but will you manage to make it out without a visit to Vera's Coffee Shop?
